Winning Grand Prize of 2002 Korea Industrial Design Awards - Joint hosted by Joongang Inbo and Korea Association of Industrial Design

Top 10 prize winning designs were selected for Grand Prize of ‘2002 Korea Industrial Design Awards (KIDA), which selects and gives awards to the best industrial design among new products of domestic companies.

Korea Association of Industrial Design (KAID, Chairman Jong-Seo Park, Vice president of Hyundai-Motor) and Joongang Ilbo hosted this event together and Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE) and Seongnam City and others supported it. In this event, total 276 designs were submitted by 87 companies and 104 designs out of those passed the first screening to have the final competition as certified products. The product which is designated as grand prize winner more than 3 times or as certified product more than 6 times in this event, started since 1997 will be designated as Top Design-Oriented Company of Korea (TDCK). Until now, Daewoo Electronics, Enex and Hankook Cosmetics were designated as TDCK to have honorable approvals for excellent design-oriented representative companies of Korea.

Myeong-Sook Shin, chief of secretariat in KAID said, “Until last year, most winning products were from big enterprises but, this year, many products from medium and small companies were selected including Youngjin Toys.” And “the number of applicants was similar to those in last year but there were so many excellent works and it was so hard to select the grand prize-winning products among those.” The winning products will be exhibited at Korea Design Center in Bundang until 17th.

Also, to convey digital image, metal colors are adopted. With avoiding detailed decoration, the prestige and dignity of a high-price item is portrayed in simple image.
